Andrea Crespo
Phase I/III
2015

The young New York artist Andrea Crespo focuses on how we as people are formed or deformed by the fears, desires and dreams that are typical of our world. In evocative and imposing work she creates images of an existence as much estranged as authentic, as artificial as human. The twins Cynthia and Celinde emerge as the double avatar of the artist. They live in their own reality, with their own language, but nevertheless seem quite at home in the world around them. However nonchalant and casual as they appear, in everything they say and do, the question of the meaning of our existence resounds.
