Business Explosion came about in the context of “Playing borders, this contemporary state of mind” a fictional photo essay in which Anouk Kruithof investigates the contemporary mind by mirroring it to a world in which a pure emotional state-of-being reigns.
This essay is a report of a project that was carried out in 2008-2009 in an empty office building in Rotterdam. The materials and objects that the artist found there, were used for installations and performances and were reborn in this way. A dead space became a place of action and creativity. Unformed and chaotic, but also loaded with new potential.
Business Explosion is one of the photographs in which this process of transformation is shown.
